Scagnostics is a clever portmanteau of scatterplot and diagnostics created as a technique to quantify common characteristics of plots that possess direct mappings to visual structures. As a technique it can be used to quickly identify pairwise combinations of variables that possess specific properties; such as extracting the set of variables that appear to be 'stringy'. This string property may signify a variable has been improperly rounded when the measurement apparatus returns continuous values. It's this type of use case that gives the scagnostics approach such broad applicability.
